Muharraq STP Company BSC
Muharraq STP Company BSC (MSC) is a single purpose company with a 29-year concession from Bahrain’s Ministry of Works (MoW) to own and operate the (i) Muharraq wastewater treatment plant, (ii) wastewater conveyance system comprising approximately 15 km long deep gravity sewer trunk (DGS), and (iii) wastewater collection network (WWCN).
MIP owns a 35% stake in MSC in partnership with Samsung Engineering Company Limited (Samsung) and United Utilities International Limited (United Utilities).
The total capacity of the wastewater treatment plant is 100,000 cubic meters per day with a potential for future expansion of up to 160,000 cubic meters per day, and includes a long sea outfall for disposing unused treated wastewater effluent. The plant receives influent of raw sewage and wastewater through the WWCN and the DGS, and treats it to produce treated sewage effluent, which is suitable for irrigation and other uses.
MIP acquired the 35% stake in Muharraq STP Company BSC in 2014.
