Al Hikma Development Company PJSC
Al Hikma Development Company PJSC (Al Hikma) developed, owns, and operates the campus for the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), in the city of Al Ain under a 25-year Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) concession from the UAEU. The UAEU is the oldest and largest university in the UAE with globally recognized accreditations.
The Al Hikma concession was the first education project procured under a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) framework in the GCC region. Key members of the MIP investment team were involved in the negotiating the concession and developing the project.
The new state-of-the-art UAEU campus, commissioned in July 2011 has a total built-up area of 1,200,000 square meters (net serviceable area of 356,431 square meters) featuring 54 buildings. The campus features world-class educational facilities, laboratories and sports facilities for 18,000 students with a current enrollment of 14,000. The campus has residential units that can accommodate 2,500 students.
MIP acquired a 49% stake in Al Hikma in 2013.
